‘Burden of Truth’ Renewed For Season 3 & ‘Coroner’ Renewed For Season 2

CBC has renewed Burden Of Truth for Season 3 and Coroner for Season 2 the Canadian network announced today.

‘Burden Of Truth’ stars Kristin Kreuk as corporate attorney Joanna Hanley, who in Season 1, returned to her small hometown of Millwood to represent a major client in a case against some sick high school girls, only to end up switching side to defend the girls. In season 2, she finds herself at a top law firm in Winnipeg ready to make a fresh start away from her previous firm. There, a new client draws her into the shadowy world of hackers, activists, and a political movement that won’t take any prisoners. The case leads Joanna through many twists and turns, until she eventually becomes a killer’s target. Her estranged father tries to assist her, which leads to an event that will change both their lives forever.

Inspired by the best-selling series of books by M.R. Hall and created by Morwyn Brebner (‘Saving Hope’), ‘Coroner’ follows Dr. Jenny Cooper (Serinda Swan – ‘Inhumans’), a recently widowed new coroner who investigates suspicious, unnatural or sudden deaths in Toronto. Jenny taps into her intuition as much as her intellect and heart as she solves cases with the help of homicide detective Donovan McAvoy (Roger Cross), a man who isn’t afraid of challenging the status quo; pathologist Dr. Dwayne Allen (Lovell Adams-Gray) and his assistant River Baitz (Kiley May); and Alison Trent (Tamara Podemski), Jenny’s assistant who keeps it real. And while Jenny solves mysterious deaths, she also deals with clinical anxiety; a teenage son, Ross (Ehren Kassam), who is still grieving the death of his father; and the prospect of starting a new relationship with the enigmatic Liam (Éric Bruneau).

Burden Of Truth‘ and ‘Coroner‘ both air on Universal TV in the UK.
