‘Future Man’ Renewed For 3rd & Final Season

It’s not been a great couple of days for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Just days after it was announced ‘Preacher’ would be ending, it’s now announced that the 3rd Season of Future Man will be it’s last.

‘Future Man’ follows Josh Futturman (Josh Hutcherson – ‘The Hunger Games’), a janitor by day/world-ranked gamer by night who travels through time to prevent the extinction of humanity after mysterious visitors from the future proclaim him the key to defeating the imminent super-race invasion.

Season 2, which aired in the UK on Syfy in January, saw Josh, Wolf (Derek Wilson – ‘Preacher’), and Tiger (Eliza Coupe – ‘Quantico’) learn that their mission to stop the cure from getting out didn’t work. In this timeline, Stu Camillo (Haley Joel Osment – ‘Silicon Valley’) is now in power, having created the cure, and launched a plan to relocate humanity to Mars. A shadowy organization called the Pointed Circle seeks to recruit Josh to take Stu down, but it’s not clear if they are the good guys or if Stu is actually on the right side.

The show is created, written and exec produced by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir (‘Sausage Party’, ‘Preacher’) alongside Rogen & Goldberg who executive produce with Matt Tolmach, James Weaver and Ben Karlin. Whilst the show, which airs on Hulu in the US, didn’t have the strongest ratings, it does appear to have an extremely dedicated fanbase. But at least Hulu has given it a final season to round off the story.

As for Rogen & Goldberg, they still have a slew tv and film of projects in development to keep them busy, along with two other tv series on air at the moment. On Showtime, they have dark comedy ‘Black Monday’ starring Don Cheadle, about the 1987 Wall Street crash (that should come to Sky Atlantic at some point.) Whilst over on Amazon Prime they have The Boys, which the duo co-created alongside ‘Supernatural’ & ‘Timeless’ creator Eric Kripke and premieres in Summer 2019. That show is set in a world where costumed heroes soar through the sky and masked vigilantes prowl the night, but sometimes you need someone to keep the superheroes in line when they become reckless… That’s where “The Boys” come in…

Future Man‘ airs on Syfy in the UK.
