by Dave Elliott

HBO steps into the world of teen drama as it releases a trailer for Euphoria starring actress and singer Zendaya.

The series following a group of high school students as they navigate love and friendships in a world of drugs, sex, trauma and social media. The series is executive produced by Drake, along with manager Future the Prince. The ensemble cast includes Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney (‘Sharp Objects’), Maude Apatow (‘Girls’), Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Hunter Schafer and Storm Reid.

Zendaya is probably best known to Disney Channel fans as K.C on the Disney series ‘K.C. Undercover’. More recently she starred in box office smash ‘The Greatest Showman’ playing acrobat, trapeze artist, Anne Wheeler, and plays M.J., in the current ‘Spider-man’ movie franchise.

‘Euphoria’ is an American adaptation of an Israeli show of the same name, and all episodes are written by Sam Levinson (‘Assassination Nation’), who also serves as executive producer. The series is produced in partnership with A24 (‘Lady Bird’, ‘Random Acts of Flyness’, ‘2 Dope Queens’, ‘Pod Save America’) and includes executive producers Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Tmira Yardeni, Mirit Toovi, Yoram Mokadi and Gary Lennon. Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, who created the Israeli series, also executive produce.

We don’t currently have a UK air date for Euphoria, but the 8-episode season will premere on HBO for our US cousins from Sunday, June 16th 2019. When it does get a UK premiere it should appear Sky Atlantic as part of their overall carriage deal with the US network, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
