CBS has added three more crew to the cast of the upcoming Jean-Luc Picard ‘Star Trek’ series with Harry Treadaway, Alison Pill, and Isa Briones taking series regular roles.

The plot details for the new series are thin on the ground right now. However, we do know it is set after the events of ‘Nemesis’, and the 2009 ‘Star Trek’ movie, which saw original Spock/Spock Prime (Leonard Nimoy), trying to save the Romulan homeworld of Romulus from a Supernova using Red Matter. Spock ultimately fails, and Romulus explodes. This cataclysmic event and the dissolution of the Romulan Empire has “radically altered” the life of Picard according to show creator Alex Kurtzman, and altered the balance of power in the galaxy. The new show will be the first time we’ve seen anything canon set in the “Prime” universe timeline post the destruction of Romulus.

CBS hasn’t revealed what roles the three new editions will play, but they join previously announced cast members Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd and Evan Evagora.

Harry Treadaway recently finished filming Season 4 of the Sony Pictures Television for Netflix series ‘The Crown’, where he is playing Princess Margaret’s young lover Roddy Llewellyn. Before that, he starred opposite Brendan Gleeson in David E. Kelley’s series, ‘Mr. Mercedes’ for two seasons. On the big screen, Harry can be seen in Nash Edgerton’s film ‘Gringo‘, opposite Joel Edgerton, Charlize Theron and David Oyelowo. Previous notable credits include three seasons on the Sky Atlantic series ‘Penny Dreadful’ and the Disney feature ‘The Lone Ranger’.

Alison Pill just completed season one of the upcoming FX series ‘DEVS’ from Alex Garland, and can be seen in the Oscar-nominated film ‘Vice’. Her other film credits include movies such as ‘Miss Sloane’, ‘Hail Caesar!’, ‘Snowpiercer’, ‘Goon’, ‘Scott Pilgrim’, and ‘Milk’. Pill’s television work includes Ryan Murphy’s ‘American Horror Story: Cult’, ‘The Family’, the acclaimed Aaron Sorkin series ‘The Newsroom’, and ‘In Treatment’.

Actor and singer Isa Briones just wrapped the First National Touring Company of the smash hit musical ‘Hamilton’. Her most recent credits include FX’s ‘American Crime Story: Versace’ and ‘Next to Normal’ (East West Players), for which she won an L.A. Ovation Award.

The series will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, James Duff, Akiva Goldsman, Patrick Stewart, Michael Chabon, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers, and Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) will serve as co-executive producer.

The Star Trek: Picard series is currently in production, with a view to launching the show on CBS All Access later in 2019. At the moment, there is no news on a UK pick up, however, our gut feeling is that its extremely likely Netflix will be the broadcaster internationally, although that is in no way confirmed. We’ll let you know when we hear something official.
