Set behind the scenes at fictional tv network Atlantis Cable News (ACN), The Newsroom follows the story of lead anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) and his team of staff for their nightly news show. These include executive producer (and ex-girlfriend) MacKenzie McHale (Emily Mortimer), producer Jim Harper (John Gallagher, Jr.), associate producer Maggie (Alison Pill), economist Sloan Sabbith (Olivia Munn), and researcher/blogger Neal Sampat (Dev Patel).

The show is written and produced by the brilliant creator of The West Wing and Studio 60 – Aaron Sorkin.
