NBC Picks Up Comedies Bradley Whitford’s ‘Perfect Harmony’ & ‘Indebted’, Plus Drama ‘Lincoln’ Based On ‘The Bone Collector’

NBC has handed out series orders to the drama Lincoln, based on ‘The Bone Collector’ novel, Bradley Whitford’s church choir comedy Perfect Harmony, and multi-generational comedy Indebted.

Lincoln is inspired by the best-selling novel ‘The Bone Collector’, and follows former NYPD detective and forensic genius Lincoln Rhyme (Russell Hornsby – ‘Proven Innocent’, ‘Grimm’) who was at the top of his game until a serious accident at the hands of a notorious serial killer forces him out of the field. When Amelia Sachs (Arielle Kebbel – ‘Midnight, Texas’, ‘Vampire Diaries’), an intuitive young officer who’s got her own gift for profiling finds herself hot on the killer’s trail, Rhyme, in turn, finds a partner for this new game of cat and mouse. As the unlikely detective duo joins forces to crack the city’s most confounding cases, they must also race to take down the enigmatic “Bone Collector” who brought them together.

The series also stars Brían F. O’Byrne (‘Hatton Garden’, ‘The Magicians’), Tate Ellington (‘Quantico’, ‘Shameless’), Courtney Grosbeck (‘Homeland’), Ramses Jimenez (‘Fear the Walking Dead’), Brooke Lyons (‘The Affair’), Roslyn Ruff (‘Madam Secretary’) and Michael Imperioli (‘The Sopranos’).

Perfect Harmony stars Bradley Whitford (‘The West Wing’, ‘A Handmaid’s Tale’) in a comedy about finding inspiration in the most unlikely places. When former Princeton music professor Arthur Cochran (Whitford) unexpectedly stumbles into choir practice at a small-town church, he finds a group of singers that are out of tune in more ways than one. Despite the ultimate clash of sensibilities, Arthur and his newfound cohorts may just be the perfect mix of individuals to help each other reinvent and rediscover a little happiness, just when they all need it most.

Anna Camp (‘Pitch Perfect’), Tymberlee Hill (‘Marry Me’), Rizwan Manji (‘The Magicians’), Will Greenberg (‘Wrecked’), Geno Segers (‘Banshee’) and newcomer Spencer Allport also star.

Indebted sees young parents Dave (Adam Pally – ‘Happy Endings’) and Rebecca (Abby Elliott – ‘SNL’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’) ready to reclaim their life after years of diapers and sleepless nights. However, things take an unexpected turn when Dave’s parents show up unannounced and broke, leaving Dave with no choice but to open the door to the people who gave him everything. But these boomerang parents aren’t great with boundaries and the question of who’s parenting who quickly become blurred.

Joining Pally and Elliott are Steven Weber (‘iZombie’, ‘Ballers’) and Fran Drescher (‘Happily Divorced’, ‘The Nanny’) as the interloping parents. The series comes from Dan Levy, the creator and writer of ‘Schitt’s Creek’.

These three shows join NBC’s other new series which include immigrant comedy ‘Sunnyside’ From Kal Penn, legal drama ‘Bluff City Law’ starring Jimmy Smits, musical dramedy ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ starring Jane Levy, and Kenan Thompson sitcom The Kenan Show. As these shows have only just been announced, there is obviously no UK pickups yet, but we’ll let you know when we hear something.
