Marvel’s Jessica Jones 3rd & Final Season Gets June Premiere Date

by Dave Elliott

Marvel’s functioning alcoholic PI Jessica Jones is back for a 3rd and final season this June Netflix has announced.

The series stars Krysten Ritter as the scotch drinking, leather jacket wearing New York private investigator Jessica Jones once again. Season 1 saw our “hero” deal with her tormenter, Kilgrave (David Tennant), whereas Season 2 had her digging deeper into her past to explore who she is and how she got her powers.

Season 3 sees Jessica cross paths with a highly intelligent psychopath, leading to her and Trish (Rachael Taylor) needing to repair their fractured relationship and team up to take him down. But a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.

This final season of ‘Jessica Jones’ marks the end of the Marvel/Netflix deal which also brought us the likes of ‘Daredevil’, ‘Luke Cage’ and ‘Iron Fist’. There have long been rumours of the possibility that the shows may resurface somewhere else, although, if they do, it will take a while… This is due to Netflix having long exclusions in their show’s contract about series moving to other streaming services, regardless of whether Netflix cancels the show (which was the case here), or if the studio pulls it from the service. If it does happen, it would likely be in a few years, but not on the new Disney+ service, as that is being kept strictly as a PG13-rated offering. Disney does have other options though, such as Hulu or the FX network, which they now have control over due to the Disney/Fox deal. We will have to wait and see…

Jessica Jones‘ Season 3 premieres Friday 14th June 2019 on Netflix UK and around the world.
