‘Suits‘ returns later this month for a 9th and final season, but an old face will be making an appearance as Patrick J. Adams‘ Mike Ross drops by the legal firm in the new trailer.
‘Suits’ centres on a fast-paced Manhattan corporate law firm led by legendary lawyer Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), his intelligent but delicate partner, Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), and secretary-turned-COO Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty).
Original cast member Patrick J. Adams left the show at the end of Season 7, when Mike and Rachel (Meghan Markle) finally got married and moved from NYC to Seattle to set up their own firm. He will reappear in episode 5 of the final season when he ends up with a case that puts him in opposition to Harvey and Samantha (Katherine Heigl). “I couldn’t be happier to be part of the final chapter of Suits,” Adams commented about his return. “I’ve missed my TV family, and am looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Mike Ross can stir up at the firm one last time.”
Last season saw the legal firm surviving leadership turmoil and the loss of key partners, with the support of the formidable Alex Williams (Dulé Hill) and the undeniably talented Katrina Bennett (Amanda Schull) and newly named partner, Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce). After some back and forth, Louis ends up in the managing partner seat, but it is not all smooth sailing, especially when original co-founding partner Daniel Hardman crawls out of the woodwork to stir up trouble for Harvey, resulting in an ethics hearing. Robert, racked with guilt over some previous misdeeds, take the hit for Harvey and ends up losing his license. Meanwhile, Harvey finally (after 8 seasons!) realises his feelings for Donna.
The trailer shows that Season 9 sees the firm under attack again, this time from the New York Bar in the form of Faye Richardson, played by ‘Ray Donovan’ and former ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ star Denise Crosby. She has taken up residence at the offices of Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams, and is watching them like a hawk. Using a court order, she is now in charge, and our beloved lawyers are not happy about the change in leadership.
