AMC has released a little video teaser for the new (currently untitled) teen-led spin-off series to ‘The Walking Dead’.

We knew the as-yet-untitled show focuses on two young female protagonists, as the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Whilst these new young adults have only known a world filled with walkers, they grew up protected behind walls in (relative) comfort and safety. “They know what walkers are, they know how to kill them, but they’ve never done it,” commented WTD Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple recently at SDCC. “We’re going to see some of these kids become heroes, and some become villains.”

The series stars Annet Mahendru (‘Tyrant’, ‘The Americans’) as Huck, Aliyah Royale (‘The Red Line’) as Iris, Alexa Mansour (‘SEAL Team’, ‘#SquadGoals’) as Hope, Nicolas Cantu (‘The Amazing World of Gumball’, ‘Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures’) as Elton, and Hal Cumpston as Silas.

The trailer above teases that this will be a “new world” we haven’t seen in TWD Universe before. Each cast member recites the basic premise behind the show – “What if you grew up in a world of safety? And you decided to leave,” begin the cast. “To discover the truth of who you are and what the world really is… You know… Growing up…”

“There have been things going on in the Walking Dead Universe, since the very start of the story,” they continue. “all happening over all these years. In other places we haven’t seen. With people we haven’t seen. With the dead we haven’t seen. But we’ll see it all this spring.”

Throughout the video, there are some striking artists impressions of the visuals we may see on this new show, from zombies strung up in overgrown greenery, to crashed planes filled with the undead. Whilst it hard to get a total handle on exactly what the show will be from this teaser, it does look to be an interesting new addition to TWD Universe.

The as-yet-untitled show comes from ‘The Walking Dead’ writer/producer Matt Negrete, who will serve as Showrunner, and co-created the project with Scott Gimple, CCO of The Walking Dead Universe.

The series is due to land on AMC in the US in Spring 2020. No news yet on where it will land in the UK. Assuming no one else offers them a wad of cash to air it, there is a fair chance AMC UK will broadcast the drama, but we’ll let you know when we get some official confirmation.
