Netflix Releases First Full Trailer For ‘Mindhunter’ Season 2

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has released the full teaser trailer for Mindhunter‘ Season 2, which premieres Friday, 16th August 2019.

Created by Joe Penhall (‘The Road’), the series stars Jonathan Groff (‘Glee’, ‘Frozen’, ‘Looking’) & Holt McCallany (‘Blue Bloods’, ‘CSI: Miami’, ‘Heroes’) as FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench who set out on a sinister investigative odyssey to discover the brutal answer to the question “How do we get ahead of crazy if we don’t know how crazy thinks?”. As members of the FBI’s Behavioural Sciences Unit, they start to interview serial killers in an effort to help solve crimes. Helping Ford and Tench is Wendy Carr, played by Anna Torv (‘Fringe’), a psychology professor who joins the pair at the Behavioural Sciences Unit to help unravel the minds of the serial killers.

In Season 2, Ford and Tench probe further into the psyches of those who have done the unthinkable. Set from 1979-1981, two years after the 1st season, one focus for the FBI agents will be the infamous “Atlanta child murders”. Despite the name, this was the work of a serial killer who, not only murdered 28 children, but also adolescents and adults, over a 2-year period. As you can see in the trailer, in addition to the main case, this season includes the notorious serial killer Charles Manson, played by Damon Herriman – a role he is also playing in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino movie ‘Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood’. “Son of Sam/.44 Caliber Killer” David Berkowitz is also set to make an appearance.

This season also stars Joe Tuttle, Albert Jones, Stacey Roca, Michael Cerveris, Lauren Glazier, and Sierra McClain. Additionally, Cameron Britton (‘The Umbrella Academy’) returns to continue his phenomenal, breakout, performance as serial killer Ed Kemper, who Ford & Tench interview, and becomes as fascinated with them as they are with him.

‘Mindhunter‘ is directed by David Fincher (‘Gone Girl’, ‘Zodiac’) as well as Andrew Dominik (‘Killing Them Softly’, ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford’) and Carl Franklin (‘The Leftovers’, ‘House of Cards’). Fincher, Joshua Donen (‘Gone Girl’, ‘The Quick and the Dead’), Charlize Theron (‘Girlboss’, ‘Hatfields & McCoys’) and Cean Chaffin (‘Gone Girl’, ‘Fight Club’) executive produce along with Courtenay Miles and Beth Kono.

Mindhunter‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 16th August 2019 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
