‘Ballers’ Comes To An End With Season 5

It’s the end of the road for ‘Ballers’, as star and exec producer Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announces on social media that they will be finishing the series with Season 5.

Exploring the glamorous and often cutthroat world of pro football through a group of past and present players striving to stay in the game, ‘Ballers’ stars Johnson as ex-superstar Spencer Strasmore, who has reinvented himself as a financial manager for today’s players.

“My heart is full of gratitude to all of you for rockin’ with us every season,” commented Johnson on Instagram. “You made us HBO’s highest-rated comedy for years and most importantly, you helped create and sustain a platform for other actors to have the OPPORTUNITY to work hard, grow and become household names. To me, the opportunity Ballers created for so many others, is the real gold of our show. I love you, I thank you and enjoy our final season of BALLERS.”

The announcement also came with a (somewhat windy!) video, which you can see below:

The series, which was created by Stephen Levinson (‘Boardwalk Empire’), also includes John David Washington, Rob Corddry, Omar Benson Miller, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, London Brown and Brittany S. Hall.

Ballers‘ Season 5 premieres August 25, 2019, on HBO in the US. The previous 5 Seasons have premiered on Sky Atlantic in the UK… However, ‘Ballers’ was one of the shows listed as moving to the new Sky Comedy channel, which doesn’t launch in until February 2020… It’s not clear at the moment if it may still air on Sky Atlantic first, or we’ll have to wait until Feb for it this side of the Atlantic. We’ll let you know when we have more news on a UK premiere date.
