D23: First Teaser Trailer Lands For ‘Agents Of SHIELD’s 7th & Final Season

by Dave Elliott

At D23 this weekend, Marvel releases the first little tease of what is to come in the 7th and final season of Agents Of SHIELD.

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ has evolved somewhat over the years. What started out as a show which followed Coulson and his merry band of agents as they handle the day-to-day strange cases without superhero intervention, ended up expanding into something much bigger. They introduced the Inhumans, battled HYDRA, fought L.M.D. (Life Model Decoy) AIDA with the help of Ghost Rider, got stuck in a virtual Framework, and ended up in space… in the future!

*WARNING SEASON 6 SPOILERS BELOW*

The last season, we were introduced to someone who had the face of SHIELD’s dearly departed leader Coulson, but was very much not him. It turns out “Sarge”, along with Izel, are part of an alien race who plan on taking over human bodies using the newly reformed Monoliths. SHIELD did not like that idea, and eventually manage to defeat the pair, but are immediately hit by another threat.

Having had their planet destroyed by Izel, the Chronicoms are also looking for a new home, and decide Earth is a good place to set up shop. In the finale of Season 6, as the Chronicoms close in, Fitz uses an upgraded jump-drive to remotely send the gang somewhere safe… That being New York City circa 1931… Still, they do now have Coulson back (kinda), as an L.M.D. 2.0 version!

In the trailer above, it seems the Chronicoms have also made it to 1930’s NYC, as we see a group take out a group of (seemingly corrupt) cops, and stealing their faces. This is followed by a series of quick clips showing a murder, a rocket launching from the lighthouse, and a Hydra logo!

Agents Of SHIELD airs on E4 in the UK and ABC in the US. The 7th Season is due to air in 2020.
