‘Power’ Star Lela Loren Joins Anthony Mackie In ‘Altered Carbon’ Season 2
‘Power’ star Lela Loren is heading for ‘Altered Carbon‘ as she joined the new Anthony Mackie-shaped “sleeve” of Takeshi Kovacs in Season 2.
Based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, ‘Altered Carbon’ is an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent.
Loren plays Danica Harlan, the charming and ambitious governor of planet Harlan’s World. She has the support of the people, but keeps an uneasy grip on the political players who surround her. Along with starring as Angela Valdes in ‘Power’, Loren has appeared in YouTube series ‘H+’, Fox drama ‘Gang Related’, and popped up in shows such as ‘Covert Affairs’, ‘Lost’, ‘Chuck’ and ‘The Shield’.
As previously announced, Anthony Mackie takes over the role of Takeshi Kovacs from Joel Kinnaman in ‘Altered Carbon’ Season 2. A former Protectorate CTAC soldier who became a revolutionary Envoy, and then a mercenary for hire, Kovacs swears allegiance to no man or woman except one: Quellcrist Falconer. His undying quest to reconnect with her spans multiple centuries, planets and sleeves. Returning cast members for Season 4 include Renée Elise Goldsberry as Quellcrist Falconer and Chris Conner as Poe.
Other previously announced new cast members include Simone Missick (‘Luke Cage’) as Trepp, an expert bounty hunter known for her ability to track down anyone in the Settled Worlds, for the right price; Dina Shihabi (‘Jack Ryan’, ‘Daredevil’) as Dig 301, an out-of-work A.I. programmed to assist human archaeologists, but she finds a new purpose when she meets Poe; German actor Torben Liebrecht as Colonel Ivan Carrera, the dogged leader of a Protectorate Special Forces unit known as the “Wedge” who is hunting Kovacs; And James Saito (‘Iron Fist’, ‘Elementary’) as Tanaseda Hideki, a centuries-old Yakuza boss who controls organized crime on the planet of Harlan’s World and shares a history with Kovacs.
‘Altered Carbon’ comes from Skydance Television. Alison Schapker, Laeta Kalogridis and James Middleton serve as executive producers for the series, alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross for Skydance.
Netflix has not given an exact premiere date for ‘Altered Carbon‘ Season 2 but it will return in 2020. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
