ITV & Acorn TV Set September UK & US Premiere Date For ‘Doc Martin’ Season 9

It’s good news for Doc Martin fans whichever side of the Atlantic you are on, as ITV sets a September UK premiere date for Season 9, with Acorn TV airing the day after for fans in the USA.

The series sees Martin Clunes return to play Dr Martin Ellingham, the GP with a brusque bedside manner and a phobia of blood, in eight new episodes of the successful drama produced by Buffalo Pictures, and set in the idyllic hamlet of Portwenn in Cornwall.

Caroline Catz returns as Doc Martin’s wife, Louisa Ellingham, who has resigned from her job as headmistress at the local school to pursue a new career in child counselling. Also back for the show’s ninth outing are Dame Eileen Atkins as Martin’s formidable Aunt Ruth, alongside Ian McNeice is as Bert Large, with Joe Absolom as his son Al. John Marquez returns as PC Joe Penhale, with Jessica Ransom as doctor’s receptionist Morwenna Newcross and Selina Cadell as pharmacist Mrs Tishell.

They are joined by special guest stars Danny Huston, Conleth Hill, Caroline Quentin and Tom Conti. Danny plays Robert Brooke, a man who is shot by a farmer who thinks he is stealing eggs. Caroline returns to the series to star as vet Angela Sim, Conleth plays a GP who comes to assess Martin and Tom Conti plays Bernard Newton, an eminent surgeon who is also assessing the Doc.

Doc Martin‘ Season 9 premieres Wednesday, 25 September 2019 at 9pm on ITV in the UK, with Acorn TV airing the series from Thursday, September 26, 2019 in the US.
