Mitch Pileggi & Cara Buono Join ‘Supergirl’ Season 5

Supergirl Season 5 has added to actors who are no strangers to otherworldly events, as Mitch Pileggi and Cara Buono join the show in recurring roles.

Pileggi and Buono will play a pair of ancient aliens, who have been safeguarding the Earth from the mistakes of humanity for millions of years. But now, their agenda puts them directly in conflict with both Supergirl and Lena Luthor. Gamemnae (Buono) uses technology to subjugate humans. She is witty, ruthless, and always ten steps ahead of her adversaries. The arrogant and willful Rama Khan (Pileggi) has the ability to control the four ancient elements of fire, water, earth, and air.

The characters first appeared in Joe Kelly’s 2002 run on the JLA comic book. In print, Gamemnae was an ancient Atlantean whilst Rama Khan was the ruler of the ancient nation of Jarhanpur. The pair eventually went on to co-rule Atlantis and assemble the League of Ancients, a group designed to fight against the perceived threat of the Justice League. Of course, when it comes to the Arrowverse, they have a tendency to play around with the background of characters, as we have yet to see Atlantis appear in the DC/CW universe.

Mitch Pileggi is probably best known for his role as Walter Skinner on ‘The X-Files’. He has also appeared in a huge range of tv dramas including ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, and ‘Stargate: Atlantis’. This isn’t the first rodeo for DC either, having voiced Commissioner Gordon in animated series ‘The Batman’.

Cara Buono most recently starred as cougar-mom Karen Wheeler in Season 3 of ‘Stranger Things’. She previously appeared in ‘Person of Interest’, ‘Mad Men’, ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘The Dead Zone’, along with popping in for guest roles in on shows such as ‘The Good Wife’, ‘Castle’, ‘Bull’ and ‘Hawaii Five-0’.

Supergirl‘ Season 5 is set to premiere in the UK on Sky One in Autumn 2019. The series premieres Sunday, October 06, 2019 at 9pm on The CW in the US.
