Sky One Sets October Premiere Dates For ‘Supergirl’ S5, ‘The Flash’ S6 & ‘Arrow’ S8

Sky One has set October return dates for the Arrowverse, with Supergirl Season 5, The Flash Season 6, and the 8th and final season of Arrow all premiering from Monday, 21st October 2019. You may notice that the new Arrowverse show, ‘Batwoman’ is missing from that list, but we’ll get to that…

During the last season of ‘Supergirl’, Kara (Melissa Benoist) had to finally deal with Lena Luthor’s (Katie McGrath) big brother, Lex (Jon Cryer). Whilst that crisis has been averted, there is always another (or several in this case!) around the corner. In this case, the villain Midnight, played by ‘Van Helsing’s Jennifer Cheon Garcia. There has also been a breakdown between Supergirl and Lena, after she discovered that is really Kara under the cape. Things are not much better at work, as Kara is surprised to find that CatCo has a new owner, Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata), played by Julie Gonzalo (‘Veronica Mars’), and she has brought with her a new star reporter. Still… at least Supergirl has a snazzy new outfit to wear!

As you may remember, ‘The Flash’ Season 5 ended on the ominous note that saw the future newspaper headline, which had been predicting that The Flash would vanish in a crisis event in 2024 changed, with the date now set at 2019. As you can see in the trailer, Barry and the team are now having to deal with the reality of what that could mean. They also have to deal with a new villain as Sendhil Ramamurthy (‘Heroes’, ‘New Amsterdam’) arrives portraying Dr Ramsey Rosso, aka Bloodwork. They will have some help in the form of yet another Wells – an “angry one” as Cisco puts in. Barry also has a new suit… so at least he has that going for him!

The 8th and final season of ‘Arrow’ has a lot of new and old faces return, as we follow Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen into the unknown. Following the untimely arrival of godlike being The Monitor (LaMonica Garett), Ollie left his home, his family, and his team behind to take on his most challenging battle yet, knowing the cost maybe his life. But this time it’s not just his city he’s seeking to protect – it’s the entire multiverse: everything that ever was or ever will be. Oliver’s quest will send him on a journey where he is forced to look back at his years as the Green Arrow and confront the reality of the ultimate question: what is the true cost of being a hero?

All this, of course, leads up to the massive ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths’ crossover event, but this is where things get tricky for UK viewers… At the time of writing, the news we are getting from Sky is that they have not picked up the ‘Batwoman’ series and are saying they have “no plans” to air it… Whether that changes, or whether they can at least just air the crossover episode is unclear. We hope they manage to sort out something before they reach the ‘Crisis’ crossover, because having 1/5th of the story missing would be a major blow to UK fans who have been following the Arrowverse on Sky for the past 7 years, and give the broadcaster a major crisis of their own… We will update you if the situation changes.

Supergirl‘ Season 5 premieres Monday, 21st October 2019 at 8pm, with ‘The Flash‘ Season 6 following on Tuesday, 22nd October 2019 at 8pm on Sky One. ‘Arrow‘ Season 8 is a shorter run for the final season, so doesn’t start until Wednesday, 30th October 2019 at 8pm.
