ITV has released a “first look” trailer giving a taste of what is to come in 2020 from ‘Belgravia‘, the new series from the award-winning creative team behind ‘Downton Abbey’ and Julian Fellowes.
‘Belgravia’ is a story of secrets and dishonour amongst the upper echelon of London society in the 19th Century. When the Trenchards accept an invitation to the now legendary ball hosted by the Duchess of Richmond on the fateful eve of the Battle of Waterloo, it sets in motion a series of events that will have consequences for decades to come as secrets unravel behind the porticoed doors of London’s grandest postcode.
The cast includes Philip Glenister (‘Life On Mars’, Living the Dream’) as social-climbing businessman James Trenchard, with Tamsin Greig (‘Episodes’, ‘Friday Night Dinner’) as his elegant and insightful wife, Anne, and Alice Eve (‘Iron Fist’, ‘Star Trek into Darkness’) portraying their beautiful but extravagant daughter, Susan. Harriet Walter (‘Curfew’, ‘Downton Abbey’) plays the aristocratic Countess of Brockenhurst, with Tom Wilkinson (‘Michael Clayton’, ‘The Full Monty’) as Peregrine, the Earl of Brockenhurst.
The 6-episode limited series reunites the team behind ‘Downton Abbey’ with Julian Fellowes who is adapting his bestselling novel for the screen, with Carnival Films’ Gareth Neame executive producing alongside Nigel Marchant, Liz Trubridge and Fellowes. John Alexander (‘Sense & Sensibility’) will direct with Colin Wratten (‘Killing Eve’) producing.
‘Belgravia‘ premieres on ITV (UK) and EPIX (US) in 2020.
