DC Universe Renews ‘Titans’ For Season 3

US streaming service DC Universe has renewed Titans for a 3rd Season it was announced last night – and before anyone asks, we don’t yet have a UK premiere date for Season 2… although it appears that it is coming…

The series follows Dick Grayson, aka the former Robin (Brenton Thwaites), who emerges from the shadows to lead a band of new heroes – including Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and others. This group of young heroes as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the iconic Teen Titans franchise.

In the first season, Dick meets Rachel Roth aka Raven (Teagan Croft), a young girl with special abilities brought on by a mysterious darkness inside of her that she struggles to control, and together, they find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy to bring about Hell on Earth. Joined by the mysterious Kory Anders aka Starfire (Anna Diop) and loveable Gar Logan aka Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), these lost and disparate individuals become a surrogate family to one another and a team of heroes for the world.

Season 2 introduces some new faces in the “New Titans”. Drew Van Acker (‘Pretty Little Liars’, ‘Training Day’) swims aboard as Aqualad, whilst Joshua Orpin (‘The Blake Mysteries: Ghost Stories’) flies in as the Connor Kent version of Superboy (along with Krypto!),  along with Iain Glen (‘Game of Thrones’) as Bruce Wayne. We also will see the return of Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall (Hawk), Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger (Dove), Conor Leslie as Donna Troy (Wonder Girl), and Curran Walters as Jason Todd (Robin). The group of teen heroes are learning to co-exist as a new team while facing their toughest enemy yet: the deadly assassin Deathstroke (Esai Morales – ‘How To Get Away With Murder’, ‘Ozark’), who threatens to tear this new Titans family apart once more.

‘Titans’ is produced by Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series was developed by Akiva Goldsman & Geoff Johns & Greg Berlanti, based on characters from DC. Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, Greg Walker and Sarah Schechter are the executive producers.

Titans‘ Season 3 will premiere “Fall 2020” on DC Universe in the US. Whilst we don’t yet have an official premiere date for Season 2 in the UK, Netflix (who aired Season 1 over here) does have a banner on the ‘Titans’ page saying “It’s official… another season is coming” which does rather imply they will be getting the 2nd Season. Netflix UK likes to drop ‘Titans’ as a boxset, so the earliest to could show up is mid-December 2019 when Season 2 finishes its run in the US. We will let you know when we have a confirmed date.
