Alibi Sets December Premiere Date For Original Crime Drama ‘Traces’

by Dave Elliott

Alibi has set a December premiere date for Traces, a UKTV Original six-part thriller set at the Scottish Institute of Forensic Science.

When Emma Hedges (Molly Windsor) returns to Dundee to start her new job as a lab technician, events conspire to remind her of a painful past: the murder of her mother, Marie (Carly Anderson) when Emma was seven. But why are Sarah Gordon (Laura Fraser), professor of chemistry, and Kathy Torrence (Jennifer Spence), professor of forensic anthropology, using her mother’s murder as a teaching case, or is it just a coincidence?

As Emma reconnects with her dad Drew (John Gordon Sinclair), her childhood friend Skye (Jamie Marie Leary) and Skye’s mum Izzy (Laurie Brett), while falling for the gentle and irresistible Daniel (Martin Compston), her sleuthing takes her into dark corners, unpicking more and more secrets, and it becomes clear that she should trust no-one.

The six-part series is written by Amelia Bullmore (‘Scott & Bailey’, ‘This Life’) based on an original idea by best-selling crime writer Val McDermid. RED Production Company (‘Safe’, ‘Butterfly’, ‘Happy Valley’) and BBC Studios Distribution produce the drama.

Traces‘ premieres Monday 9th December 2019 at 9pm, with the 2nd episode airing on Tuesday 10th December.
