Sky One Releases “First Look” Image & February Premiere Date For Nick Mohammed Comedy ‘Intelligence’ Starring David Schwimmer

Sky One has released a “first look” image and announced a February 2020 premiere date for Intelligence a new original comedy from Nick Mohammed starring David Schwimmer.

Created and written by Nick Mohammed, Intelligence is a workplace comedy set in the UK’s GCHQ. The press release describes GCHQ as “a kind of weedier, geekier version of MI5” (I’m sure they’ll be totally okay with that description!), where they tackle international and domestic Cyber Crime from a desktop.

When an arrogant, maverick NSA agent Jerry (David Schwimmer) comes over from the U.S. to join the team, he enlists an inept and tactless computer analyst Joseph (Nick Mohammed) in a power grab that threatens to disrupt the team’s ability to combat cyber terrorism.

Schwimmer is, of course, best known as Ross from ‘Friends’, along with starring more recently in ‘American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson’.  Nick Mohammed is a comedian, actor and writer, who voiced Piglet in the live-action ‘Christopher Robin’ movie, along with popping up in films such as ‘The Martian’, and played the Carpet Bros Manager, Roopesh, in our beloved sitcom ‘Uncle’.

“Intelligence is an absolute peach of a show; genuinely juicy, truly funny and shot through with a chemistry that won’t be top secret for long,” comments Jon Mountague, Sky Studios Director of Comedy “Forget Harry and Meghan, David and Nick’s is an Anglo-American relationship for our times. 2020 is going to be an even bigger year for Sky original comedies on Sky One – and they don’t come much more special than this.”

The 6x30min comedy also stars Sylvestra Le Touzel (‘The Crown’, ‘Utopia’), Jane Stanness (‘Sally4Ever’, ‘Hunderby’), Gana Bayarsaikhan (‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘Wonder Woman’), Oliver Birch (‘National Theatre Live: Treasure Island’), Eliot Salt (‘GameFace’) and Colin Salmon (‘Krypton’, ‘Silent Witness’).

“I think you’ll find this is the best TV comedy made in the last two hundred years. You can’t see my face, but I’m super serious,” said Schwimmer, to which Mohammed adds “Given that David is most well-known for his dramatic roles, it’s nice to see him finally have a go at comedy. Hopefully, it’ll lead to more work of this quality.”

Intelligence is a co-production with Expectation and Dark Harbor Stories. The executive producers are Nerys Evans for Expectation, along with stars Mohammed and Schwimmer. Commissioned by Jon Mountague, Sky’s Director of Comedy and Zai Bennett, Director of Programming for Sky Entertainment UK & Ireland. The commissioning editor is Morwenna Gordon for Sky. Sales for Intelligence will be handled by NBCUniversal Global Distribution.

“It’s been such a privilege to watch David and Nick, along the rest of the cast, bring these brilliant scripts to life,” commented Nerys Evans, Expectation’s Creative Director, Comedy. “Nick has written such a funny ensemble of characters and brilliant storylines. I can’t wait for everyone to see the wonderful world of ‘Intelligence’.”

Intelligence‘ is due to premiere Tuesday, 18th February 2020 on Sky One and streaming service NOW TV.
