Sky Comedy Picks Up Anthology Comedy ‘Miracle Workers’ Starring Daniel Radcliffe & Steve Buscemi

Sky Comedy has picked up the Daniel Radcliffe & Steve Buscemi angelic workplace anthology comedy Miracle Workers it has been announced.

Based on Simon Rich’s book, ‘What in God’s Name’, Season 1 turns the perception of heaven on its head while also making the case that humans are worth saving. Daniel Radcliffe plays Craig, a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers. Steve Buscemi plays Craig’s boss… aka God… who has pretty much checked out to focus on petty hobbies.

To prevent Earth’s destruction, Craig and fellow angel Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan – ‘Blockers’) must answer a seemingly impossible prayer: help two humans, Laura (Sasha Compere – ‘The Dead Girls Detective Agency’) and Sam (Jon Bass – ‘Baywatch’, ‘Dog Days’), fall in love. Karan Soni (‘Deadpool’) also stars as Sanjay, God’s right-hand man. Season 1 guest stars include Tituss Burgess, Margaret Cho, Angela Kinsey, Tim Meadows, John Reynolds, Lolly Adefope and Chris Parnell.

For Season 2, the anthology series moves things to the Dark Ages, and centres upon a group of medieval villagers trying to stay positive in an age of extreme income inequality, poor healthcare, and widespread ignorance. Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Karan Soni, Jon Bass, and Lolly Adefope return in new roles and facing new challenges.

The comedy comes from ‘SNL’ writer and ‘Man Seeking Woman’ creator Simon Rich. It is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer of Michaels’ Broadway Video, along with Rich, Radcliffe and Buscemi. Broadway Video produces the series in association with Turner’s Studio T.

Whilst not officially confirmed, Miracle Workershas appeared on a list of Sky On Demand box sets from Monday, 27th January 2020. We are presuming that is Season 1, and it will also air on new channel Sky Comedy the same day. Season 2, titled ‘Miracle Workers: Dark Ages’ premieres January 28th, 2020 on TBS in the USA, but we don’t yet have a confirmed UK premiere date, although it’s possible the two seasons could run back-to-back. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
