Noel Fielding Teases Possible Return Of ‘The Mighty Boosh’ In 2020

Comedian Noel Fielding posted on social media yesterday hinting that 2020 could see him reunited with Julian Barratt for more of surreal cult comedy series ‘The Mighty Boosh’. “There really wasn’t enough Boosh this decade!” he put on Instagram. “Let’s try and rectify that in the next one 😉 x”

Beginning as a stage show in 1998, ‘The Mighty Boosh’ landed the coveted Perrier Award for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Festival. That was followed in 1999 by the show ‘Arctic Boosh’ which was Perrier nominated, and ‘Autoboosh’ in 2000, which picked up the Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The stage success caught the eye of the BBC who commissioned ‘The Boosh’ radio series in 2001, which led to ‘The Mighty Boosh’ tv series in 2004.

The comic fantasy series, which was last broadcast in December 2007, featured Barratt and Fielding as Howard Moon and Vince Noir, two eccentric, failing musicians pursuing fame across a surreal universe. There were also aliens… and a gorilla, named Bollo… Barratt and Fielding took on various roles alongside Rich Fulcher, Dave Brown, Michael Fielding, and a host of other guest parts from other comedic stars.

Since those three seasons of ‘The Mighty Boosh’, Fielding has starred in various tv shows and comedy special, most recently becoming a regular presenter on Channel 4’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’. Barratt has appeared in dramas such as Sky One’s ‘Treasure Island’ adaptation, Channel 4’s dark comedy ‘Flowers’ and Sky Atlantic’s ‘Sally4Ever’.

As we said at the top of the article, ‘The Mighty Boosh’s potential return was only hinted at by Fielding, so there is no confirmed news on if, when, or where it may happen, but we’ll let you know if we get some confirmation. You can see the original Instagram post below.
