‘Fargo’ Season 4 Gets Official Trailer

by Dave Elliott

Fargo finally returns to our tv screens later this year for a 4th Season, and sees Chris Rock take the lead as Kansas City gang kingpin Loy Cannon.

In 1950, at the end of two great American migrations – that of Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, who came to the US at the turn of the last century and settled in northern cities like New York, Chicago – and African Americans who left the south in great numbers to escape Jim Crow and moved to those same cities – you saw a collision of outsiders, all fighting for a piece of the American dream. In Kansas City, Missouri, two criminal syndicates have struck an uneasy peace. One Italian, one African American. Together they control an alternate economy – that of exploitation, graft and drugs. This too is the history of America. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their youngest sons.

Chris Rock plays the head of one family, a man who – in order to prosper – has surrendered his youngest boy to his enemy, and who must, in turn, raise his enemy’s son as his own. It’s an uneasy peace, but profitable. And then the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies. And everything changes. It’s a story of immigration and assimilation and the things we do for money. And as always, a story of basically decent people who are probably in over their heads. You know, Fargo.

The all-star cast also includes Jack Huston (‘Mr. Mercedes’, ‘The Irishman’) as Odis Weff, Jason Schwartzman (‘Mozart in the Jungle’) as Josto Fadda, Ben Whishaw (‘A Very English Scandal’, ‘Paddington’) as Rabbi Milligan, Jessie Buckley (‘Chernobyl’) as Oraetta Mayflower, Salvatore Esposito (‘Gomorrah’) as Gaetano Fadda, Andrew Bird as Thurman Smutney, Jeremie Harris (‘Legion’) as Leon Bittle, Gaetano Bruno (‘1993’) as Constant Calamita, Anji White (‘The Chi’) as Dibrell Smutney, Francesco Acquaroli (‘Suburra: Blood on Rome’) as Ebal Violante, Emyri Crutchfield (‘The Kicks’) as Ethelrida Pearl Smutney and Amber Midthunder (‘Roswell, New Mexico’, ‘Legion’) as Swanee Capps.

The series comes from Peabody, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning Executive Producer Noah Hawley (creator/showrunner/writer/director) and his production company 26 Keys. Joel & Ethan Coen and Warren Littlefield also serve as Executive Producers. Fargo is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions, with MGM Television serving as the lead studio and international distributor.

Fargo‘ Season 4 premieres Sunday, April 19, 2020, at 10pm on FX in the USA. No news on the UK premiere date yet, but if the rights stay with Channel 4, they usually are close to the US air date. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
