Fox Sets March UK Premiere Date For Their ‘War of The Worlds’ Adaptation Starring Gabriel Byrne
Howard Overman’s new, modern adaptation of ‘War of The Worlds‘ (not to be confused with the recent BBC adaptation) will premiere in March on FOX UK the broadcaster has announced. This bold interpretation is set in modern-day Europe, as the contemporary thriller shows mankind all but wiped out in a devastating alien attack, and explores the fallout of those struggling to survive.
When astronomers detect a transmission from another galaxy, it is definitive proof of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The world’s population waits for further contact with bated breath. They do not have to wait long. Within days, civilisation is all but wiped out by an alien invasion; pockets of humanity are left in an eerily deserted world.
As aliens hunt and kill those left alive, the survivors ask a burning question – who are these attackers and why are they hell-bent on our destruction? This is a story of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances – but they are more than just victims in a brutal war. For, as we will come to realise, the aliens’ savage attack on earth is not arbitrary: its seeds are being sown before our very eyes.
‘War of The Worlds’ is written and created by the BAFTA award-winner Howard Overman (‘Misfits’, ‘Crazyhead’, ‘Merlin’) and executive produced by Howard Overman, Julian Murphy and Johnny Capps for Urban Myth Films.

The critically acclaimed ensemble cast includes Gabriel Byrne (‘The Usual Suspects’, ‘Maniac’, ‘Vikings’), Elizabeth McGovern (‘Downton Abbey’), Léa Drucker (‘Le Bureau des Légendes’, ‘Custody’), Natasha Little (‘Absentia’, ‘Silent Witness’), Daisy Edgar Jones (‘Cold Feet’, ‘Silent Witness’, ‘Gentleman Jack’), Stéphane Caillard (‘Genius’, ‘Marseille’), Adel Bencherif (‘The Little Drummer Girl’, ‘London Has Fallen’) and Guillaume Gouix (‘The Returned’).

‘War of The Worlds‘ premieres Thursday, 5th March 2020 on FOX UK with a double bill of Episodes 1 & 2 from 9pm. This will then revert to one episode a week from Thursday 12th March. The series airs February 16, 2020, on Epix in the USA.
