We’re still a few months away from the May premiere of Billions‘ Season 5, but Showtime has released the first teaser trailer for the drama, which sees some old rivalries reunited.

‘Billions’ stars Lewis and Giamatti in a duo of tour-de-force performances as shady hedge fund manager Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod and equally shady District U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades. The first few seasons have seen Axe and Rhoades going head-to-head as they try to bring each other down, whilst the 4th Season twisted that dynamic and saw the duo working together against their common enemies.

As we head into the 5th Season, the truce seems to be over, as Axe and Chuck’s vicious rivalry is reignited, while new enemies rise and take aim. Social impact pioneer Mike Prince (Cory Stoll – ‘House of Cards’, Ant-Man’) poses a true threat to Axe’s dominance, and Chuck feuds with a formidable district attorney.  As we saw at the end of last season, Taylor (Asia Kate Dillon) has been forced back to Axe Capital, where they must fight to protect their employees and their assets. Meanwhile, Wendy (Maggie Siff) reevaluates her loyalties and forges surprising new alliances that put her at odds with both Chuck and Axe. This season, the struggle for power becomes a struggle for survival, and all characters must adapt or risk extinction.

In addition to Cory Stoll, the other new addition to the cast this year is Golden Globe winner Julianna Margulies (‘The Good Wife’) who plays Catherine Brant, an Ivy League sociology professor and bestselling author. They join the returning cast of Lewis, Giamatti, Siff, Dillon, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin and Jeffrey DeMunn.

Billions‘ Season 5 premiere Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 9/8c on SHOWTIME in the US, and is expected to arrive on Sky Atlantic in the UK not long after that.
