Josh Peck Cast In Disney+ ‘Turner & Hooch’ Reboot

The Disney+ reboot has found one of Turner & Hooch its leads… the human one… as the streaming service announces Josh Peck will take the role of Turner.

For those of you that don’t know the original film, ‘Turner & Hooch’ was a “buddy-cop” movie, with the twist that one of the duo was a dog. Tom Hanks played police investigator Scott Turner, who finds himself looking after a dog, Hooch, when his owner, a close friend of Scott, is murdered. Scott has no experience with dogs and looks to offload Hooch on a friend, but when his new pup pal chases a potential suspect in the killing of his friend, Scott realises the dog may actually be able to help in the investigation.

In the tv reboot, Josh Peck take the role of Turner who is a U.S. Marshal this time, rather than a police detective. Following a similar setup to the film, when the ambitious, buttoned-up U.S. marshal inherits a big unruly dog, he soon realizes the pet he didn’t want may be the partner he needs.

Peck started out as a child actor, but shot to prominence as the titular Josh in Nickelodeon series ‘Drake & Josh’. Since then, he has starred in the sitcom ‘Grandfathered’, along with providing the voice for Eddie in the ‘Ice Age’ movies, and popped up in shows such as ‘Big Bang Theory’, ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘Fuller House’. He also hosts the ‘Curious with Josh Peck’ podcast which has over 10 million downloads.

The ‘Turner & Hooch’ reboot comes from Matt Nix, who is probably best known as the creator of the brilliant ‘Burn Notice’, and Marvel series ‘The Gifted’. Nix writes and exec produces with 20th Century TV set as the studio. Josh Levy (‘Bones’) is co-executive producer.

The 12-episode series of ‘Turner & Hooch‘ will air on Disney+ (release date TBC).
