FOX UK Picks Up ‘Bull’ Season 4 With August Premiere Date

FOX UK has finally closed a deal with CBS for Season 4 of Bull with an August premiere date the broadcaster has confirmed.

Inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the series stars Michael Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull, the founder of one of the most prolific trial-consulting firms of all time. Brilliant, brash, and charming, Dr. Bull is the ultimate puppet master as he combines psychology, human intuition, and high-tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses, and the accused tick. His personal life proves harder to manage as he tries to live a healthier lifestyle following a heart attack and learns he is expecting a child with his ex-wife. Bull employs an enviable team of experts at Trial Analysis Corporation to shape successful narratives down to the very last detail.

This includes his quick-witted former brother-in-law, Benny Colón (Freddy Rodriguez), a lawyer who acts as a defense attorney in the company’s mock trials; Marissa Morgan (Geneva Carr), a neurolinguistics expert from the Department of Homeland Security who monitors shifting jury reactions in real-time for Bull; former NYPD detective Danny James (Jaime Lee Kirchner), the firm’s tough but relatable investigator; Taylor Rentzel (Mackenzie Meehan), a working mother and former colleague of Marissa’s who is an expert in coding and computer hacking; and Chunk Palmer (Christopher Jackson), a former all-American lineman and stylist-turned-law student who helps clients prepare their look and testimony for trial. In high-stakes trials, Bull’s combination of remarkable insight into human nature, three Ph.D.’s and a top-notch staff creates winning strategies that tip the scales of justice in his clients’ favour.

This pick-up had been a long time coming as it was previously been announced back in January that FOX had not acquired the rights to Season 4. It’s unclear why the pick-up took so long, but it does mean ‘Bull’ is finally back on air in the UK.

For those of you needing a bit of a refresher as to where we left things in Season 3, Benny quit the firm after it was revealed that Bull’s hook up with Izzy (Yara Martinez), his ex-wife and Benny’s sister, had caused the collapse of her second marriage… and also that she was now pregnant with Bull’s child. Meanwhile, Marissa learnt that the eggs she froze and her womb were both viable for in-vitro fertilization, but that there was a problem with Greg’s (David Furr) sperm. Rather than tell him the truth, she decides to tell him that she changed her mind about having children.

The opening episode of Season 4 sees Bull preparing for fatherhood, and his work at TAC suffers without his top attorney, Benny, who quit in reaction to Bull’s romantic reconnection to his ex-wife and Benny’s sister, Izzy. In addition, the team faces a difficult time in court as they mount a defence for a young bartender on trial for involuntary manslaughter.

Bull‘ Season 4 premieres Monday, 3rd August 2020 at 9pm on FOX.
