‘New Amsterdam’s Margot Bingham Joins ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 11

Margot Bingham will be joining the cast of The Walking Dead for Season 11 it has been announced… Although to say “joining” isn’t totally correct as she has been on the show for a while, we just haven’t seen her…

If you remember the last season of the zombie series, quite a lot happened! After a period of relative peace, the various survivor groups were, once again, dealing with The Whisperers who had returned in full force under the leadership of Alpha (Samantha Morton). Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) had seemingly joined The Whisperers and was rising in the ranks, much to the annoyance of Beta (Ryan Hurst). However, it was all a ruse, orchestrated with Carol (Melissa McBride) to allow Negan to get close enough to take the head (quite literally) of the snake. Negan uses Lydia (Cassady McClincy) to lure Alpha to a secluded spot and decapitates her. This led to an enraged Beta leading The Whisperers and their horde to attack Alexandria, along with carving a new mask using part of Alpha’s face… Discovering Alexandria empty, they soon find out that the remaining Alexandrians have sheltered in a nearby hospital, and we leave them as they march (or slowly shuffle) toward the enemy.

Meanwhile, at Hilltop, one of the key backstories this season has been Eugene (Josh McDermitt) secret radio conversations with a mystery woman, who we eventually find out is named Stephanie, who was voiced by Margot Bingham. Eugene, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) head out to meet the mystery lady, only to stumble across the wonderfully bonkers Princess (Paola Lázaro) along the way, who (after a rocky start!) joins the group.

Whilst no one will officially confirm Margot Bingham will be portraying Stephanie on-screen, it seems extremely likely that is the character she will be playing on Season 11, given it is who she’s been voicing all along! Those of you who are comic book readers will know that Stephanie is a resident of the Commonwealth, a network of communities with access to advanced equipment and almost fifty thousand survivors living in different settlements.

Bingham has most recently been appearing as Evie in ‘New Amsterdam’, the hospital’s legal counsel, and girlfriend of Dr. Reynolds. Previously she starred in the series ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ and ‘The Family’, along with appearing as Daughter Maitland in ‘Boardwalk Empire’.

Due to the pandemic, we don’t yet know exactly when The Walking Dead will return to our screens, however, we do still have the finale of Season 10 to air, which is expected to land at some point in Fall/Autumn 2020. That will then be followed by the new spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond’. At this point, it seems likely Season 11 won’t make it to screen until 2021, but we’ll let you know when we have more information.
