Netflix Releases Trailer For Katherine Ryan Comedy Series ‘The Duchess’, Premiering September

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has released the first trailer for comedian Katherine Ryan’s debut scripted series The Duchess which premieres 11th September 2020 on the streaming service.

An authentic extension of Katherine’s stand-up comedian stage persona, the series explores the unique world view of a fashionably disruptive all-round bad person whose redeeming quality is that she’ll sacrifice everything to be a good parent. Her daughter, Olive, is the love of her life, which leads her to debate the idea of a second child with her greatest enemy… Olive’s dad. Can two wrongs make another right? ‘The Duchess’ illuminates the intricacies of very modern and celebrated single motherhood in London.

Katherine Ryan is a well-known face on UK panel shows, having appeared on shows such as ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’, ‘Your Face or Mine’, ‘The Fix’, and the UK version of ‘Roast Battle’. She also has two stand-up specials on Netflix – 2017’s ‘In Trouble’ and 2019’s ‘Glitter Room’. She has also popped up acting in comedies such as ‘Episodes’, ‘Badults’, and ‘Campus’.

The 6×30-minute episode series is written by Ryan, who exec produces alongside Dave Becky & Josh Lieberman for 3Arts; and Murray Ferguson, Petra Fried, and Ed Macdonald for Clerkenwell Films (‘The End of the F***ing World’).

The Duchess‘ Season 1 premieres Friday, 11th September 2020 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
