‘Titans’ Season 3 Will Introduce A Few Iconic Gotham Characters #DCFanDome

During the ‘Titans’ DC FanDome panel the cast and crew of the show chatted about the upcoming 3rd Season, and reveals some of the characters they will be meeting when the gang get back together.

The first bit of news is that our heroes will be heading to Gotham City for Season 3, and that will see them reunite with old friends and face new threats. One of those “old friends” was the long-rumoured appearance of Barbara Gordon, although it will be a somewhat different version to the one you might have expected. It doesn’t look like we will be seeing her suit up as Batgirl or as the wheelchair-bound genius Oracle. In this universe, Babs has joined the family business as Commissioner Gordon of Gotham City Police Department. She does, however, have a “past” with Brenton Thwaites’s Dick Grayson/Nightwing and is somewhat wary of this new team of heroes that have landed in her city.

Returning to Gotham means dealing with its villains. One person they have confirmed will make an appearance is Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow. He will apparently be an Arkham Asylum inmate who offers his services as a profiler and consultant for the GCPD… I’m sure that’ll end well…

The third “new” character will be an old friend turned foe. Curran Walters’ Jason Todd will be transitioning from Robin to his other alter-ego, Red Hood. In the comic books, Jason turns villain when he is murdered by Joker, only to be brought back to life via a Lazarus Pit, and returns to Gotham to find Batman hasn’t avenged his death. Infuriated by this slight, Todd takes on the role of Red Hood to terrorise his former friend and mentor. The ‘Titans’ version of Red Hood will also be driven by a perceived slight from former friends. After being rejected by the group, Jason takes on the mantle of Red Hood in his obsession to take down his old team.

The roles of Barbara Gordon and Scarecrow have not yet been cast, but whoever gets the gig will join Brenton Thwaites (Nightwing), Anna Diop (Starfire), Teagan Croft (Raven), Ryan Potter (Beast Boy), Minka Kelly (Dove), and Alan Ritchson (Hawk).  Damaris Lewis, who plays Starfire’s sister Blackfire, has been upped from a recurring role to season regular for Season 3.

Titans is produced by Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series was developed by Akiva Goldsman & Geoff Johns & Greg Berlanti, based on characters from DC. Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, Greg Walker, Sarah Schechter and Richard Hatem are the executive producers.

In the USA, ‘Titans’ will be moving to HBO Max for Season 3. The superhero drama airs on Netflix in the UK.
