Marvel has apparently located their ‘She-Hulk‘ for the upcoming live-action series, and it’s none other than the amazingly talented ‘Orphan Black’ star Tatiana Maslany according to reports.
‘She-Hulk’ was first created by Stan Lee & John Buscema back in 1980. The story follows Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who gets shot whilst investigating a crime boss. She, unfortunately, has a rare blood type, but luckily she is being visited at the time by her cousin who proves a match and can help with the transfusion… Unfortunately, that cousin is Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and the transfusion turns her into the green-skinned She-Hulk.
Over the years in the comic books, She-Hulk has been a member of The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, The Defenders, Fantastic Force and S.H.I.E.L.D. Unlike Bruce, Jennifer has better control from the beginning and manages to retain her intelligence and personality.
For those of you that don’t know Tatiana Maslany, go and watch ‘Orphan Black’, a series in which she pretty much plays half the characters on the show. Her phenomenal tour-de-force performance as Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Helena and Rachel, plus a number of others along the way, finally won her a (long overdue) Emmy in 2016. Since ‘Orphan Black’ ended, she has appeared in HBO’s ‘Perry Mason’, the films ‘Destroyer’ with Nicole Kidman and ‘Stronger’ opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, along with appearing on Broadway opposite Bryan Cranston in ‘Network’.
‘She-Hulk’ was one of the second batches of Marvel TV shows announced by Disney for the Disney Plus streaming service. First the announced ‘The Falcon and Winter Soldier‘, ‘WandaVision‘ and ‘Loki‘, which will then be followed by ‘Hawkeye‘, ‘She-Hulk’, ‘Moon Knight’ and ‘Ms. Marvel’. Due to the pandemic don’t have exact premiere dates for these yet, however, ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’ was due to air first, and has recently returned to complete the last bits of filming, so may still premiere this year. They have also confirmed that ‘WandaVision’ should still hit it’s expected premiere before the end of 2020.
‘She-Hulk‘ and all the other Marvel tv series will premiere on Disney+ in the UK and worldwide.
