Alibi Sets October UK Premiere For Canadian Police Drama ‘Hudson & Rex’

UKTV’s Alibi has set an October UK premiere date for Season 1 of the Canadian lighthearted police procedural Hudson & Rex the broadcaster has announced.

The series stars John Reardon (‘Van Helsing’, ‘Continuum’) as Detective Charlie Hudson, a cunning Major Crimes detective for Newfoundland’s St. John’s Police Department, who teams up with an unusual partner – Rex (the fabulously named good boy, Diesel von Burgimwald), a former-K9 German Shepherd, whose heightened senses keep Charlie hot on the trail of his suspects.

From kidnapping, homicide and hostage situations, to fraud and corruption in high places, with Charlie’s deft detective work and Rex’s keen canine senses Hudson and Rex are a crime-fighting force to be reckoned with.

Alongside Reardon and Diesel von Burgimwald, the series also stars Mayko Nguyen (‘Killjoys’) as Chief of Forensics Sarah Truong, Kevin Hanchard (‘Orphan Black’) as Superintendent Joseph Donovan, and Justin Kelly (‘Wynonna Earp’) as IT Specialist Jesse Mills.

Alibi has acquired the first two seasons of the drama, which is currently in the middle of filming Season 3. They did have to briefly pause filming in August due to a single case of COVID-19, but managed to get things back up and running within the week.

The series is produced by Shaftesbury and Pope Productions in association with Citytv and distributor Beta Film, and is the English-language adaptation of Italian-Austrian drama ‘Komissar Rex’. Along with the UK, Beta has recently sold the drama to TV4 in Sweden, TV2 in Denmark and Forta in Spain. The drama already airs in over 100 countries around the globe including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Latin America and Africa. A US broadcaster currently being negotiated.

Hudson & Rex‘ Season 1 will premiere later in 2020 on Alibi in the UK.
