Chloë Grace Moretz To Lead Cast Of William Gibson’s ‘The Peripheral’ Adaptation On Amazon

Amazon has found its first cast member for their upcoming adaptation of William Gibson’s 2014 novel The Peripheral’, which is produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films, as it is announced Chloë Grace Moretz will take the lead role.

Based on the bestselling novel by William Gibson, the sci-fi thriller follows the story of Flynne Fisher (Moretz), a woman trying to hold together the pieces of her broken family in a forgotten corner of tomorrow’s America. Flynne is smart, ambitious, and doomed. She has no future. Until the future comes calling for her.

Moretz began as a child actor in movies such as ‘The Amityville Horror’ and ‘500 Days of Summer’, along with tv shows such as ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Dirty Sexy Money’. However, her breakout role came in the form of her critically acclaimed performance as Hit-Girl in the 2010 superhero film ‘Kick-Ass’. Since then she has starred in a host of other movies including Neil Jordan’s ‘Greta’, 2014’s ‘The Equalizer’ opposite Denzel Washington, and Desiree Akhavan’s ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’. She can next be seen in Roseanne Liang’s ‘Shadow in the Cloud’.

Nolan & Joy exec produce and produce the show via Kilter Films with Warner Bros. Television. Oscar-nominated writer Scott B. Smith (‘A Simple Plan’) is the creator, EP and co-showrunner, alongside Greg Plageman (‘Person of Interest’, ‘FBI’, ‘Taken’) who also exec produces. Vincenzo Natali (‘Westworld’, ‘In the Tall Grass’, ‘Hannibal’) set to direct and exec produce, with Athena Wickham (‘Westworld’), and Steven Hoban (‘In the Tall Grass’) also exec producing.

Along with writing ‘The Peripheral’, William Gibson is an extremely influential science fiction author, and is largely credited for pioneering the cyberpunk genre and for inventing the term “cyberspace”. His previous work includes his acclaimed debut novel ‘Neuromancer’‘Virtual Light’ which kicked off his Bridge trilogy, and ‘Pattern Recognition’, the first book in his Blue Ant trilogy.

No news on exactly when The Peripheral will premiere on Amazon Prime, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
