‘Billions’ Season 5 Gets October UK Premiere Date On Sky Atlantic. Renewed For Season 6.

It’s been a bit of a wait in the UK for Billions‘ Season 5, but Sky Atlantic has finally set an October double-bill premiere date for the return of the series, whilst in the US, Showtime has announced the drama will return for a 6th Season.

‘Billions’ stars Lewis and Giamatti in a duo of tour-de-force performances as shady hedge fund manager Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod and equally shady District U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades. The first few seasons have seen Axe and Rhoades going head-to-head as they try to bring each other down, whilst the 4th Season twisted that dynamic and saw the duo working together against their common enemies.

As we head into the 5th Season, the truce seems to be over, as Axe and Chuck’s vicious rivalry is reignited, while new enemies rise and take aim. Social impact pioneer Mike Prince (Cory Stoll – ‘House of Cards’, Ant-Man’) poses a true threat to Axe’s dominance, and Chuck feuds with a formidable district attorney.  As we saw at the end of last season, Taylor (Asia Kate Dillon) has been forced back to Axe Capital, where they must fight to protect their employees and their assets. Meanwhile, Wendy (Maggie Siff) reevaluates her loyalties and forges surprising new alliances that put her at odds with both Chuck and Axe. This season, the struggle for power becomes a struggle for survival, and all characters must adapt or risk extinction.

The series will open with a double-bill in the UK. Episode 1 is called The New Decas and sees Bobby reach a major milestone and Chuck struggle to get his bearings. Meanwhile, tensions are high at Axe Camp now that Tyler Mason is back. Episode 2, called The Chris Rock Test, sees Axe chase a play at Mike Prince’s conference, whilst Chuck wrestles with his demons and chooses a new path. Meanwhile, Wendy takes the lead as Axe Camp faces a new threat…

In addition to Cory Stoll, the other new addition to the cast this year is Golden Globe winner Julianna Margulies (‘The Good Wife’) who plays Catherine Brant, an Ivy League sociology professor and bestselling author. They join the returning cast of Lewis, Giamatti, Siff, Dillon, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin and Jeffrey DeMunn. Stoll, who was a recurring character in Season 5, will return as a series regular in the 6th Season next year.

Billions‘ Season 5 premieres Wednesday, 21st October 2020 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
