‘Miracle Workers’ Season 3 To Be Set In The American Old West

Brilliant anthology comedy series Miracle Workers is set to return for a 3rd Season, and after trying out heaven and the Dark Ages, the new season will see stars Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni transported to the American Old West.

Set in the year 1844, the new season will follow an idealistic small-town preacher (Radcliffe) who teams up with a wanted outlaw (Buscemi) and a liberated prairie wife (Viswanathan) to lead a wagon train west on the Oregon Trail across an American landscape which, much like today, is fraught with both promise and peril.

“Miracle Workers is a perfect example of the fun, escapist humour that we take pride in delivering to our viewers,” said Sam Linsky and Adrienne O’Riain, co-heads of scripted original programming for TBS, TNT and truTV, who commissioned the series. “We can’t wait to see how this incredibly dynamic cast and talented group of storytellers hilariously rewrite 19th-century history.”

The new season will see a couple of changes behind the cameras too. Simon Rich, who created the series, has stepped down as showrunner for the next season and will be replaced by Dan Mirk and Robert Padnick, who both worked as writers on the first two seasons. Although today was the official announcement of Season 3, we knew back in August it had been renewed after it was revealed production would be moving from the Czech Republic, where it has shot the first two seasons, to California, due to it landing funding from California’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program.

“Getting to tell an entirely new story with this ludicrously talented cast each season is a dream come true,” commented Mirk and Padnick. “We could not be happier that TBS has given us the reins on this unique and special show.”

Created by Simon Rich, ‘Miracle Workers’ is executive produced by Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer and Katy Jenson of Michaels’ Broadway Video, along with Radcliffe, Buscemi, Mirk, and Padnick.

Miracle Workers‘ airs on Sky Comedy in the UK and TBS in the USA.
