It’s taken a little while, but the 5th and final season of ‘The Magicians‘ has, at last, got a UK premiere date, as Amazon announces the series will land in November on the Prime Video streaming service.
Based upon Lev Grossman’s best-selling books, ‘The Magicians’ starred Jason Ralph (‘A Most Violent Year,’ ‘Aquarius’) as Quentin Coldwater, a brilliant grad student who enrols in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic. He and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real – and poses a grave danger to humanity. Stella Maeve (‘Chicago P.D.’), Hale Appleman (‘Teeth’), Arjun Gupta (‘Nurse Jackie’) and Summer Bishil (‘Towelhead,’ ‘Lucky 7’) also star.
In Season 4, magic was saved, but at a terrible cost: the life of Quentin Coldwater, who died heroically to save his friends – and the world. As we head into Season 5, Julia, Alice, Eliot, Margo, Penny and their friends (and frenemies) must learn to navigate a world without him. Now, a new threat has arisen: in freeing magic, the balance tipped the other way and there’s too damn much of it, and as the excess builds, an apocalypse looms. Can the magicians keep it together to save the world without Q?
The series is executive produced by John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Chris Fisher and Groundswell Productions’ Michael London and Janice Williams.
‘The Magicians‘ Season 5 premieres 26th November 2020 on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
