‘Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks’ Gets Trailer & New Year’s Day Premiere Date!

by Dave Elliott

The BBC has released the first trailer for Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks, the new special which will premiere on New Year’s Day on BBC One in the UK, and BBC America in the US.

As was revealed last week, the special sees John Barrowman return to the iconic role of Captain Jack Harkness… which is handy, as Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor is currently locked away in a space prison follow the events of last season!

In the special, the Doctor’s best friends Yaz (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) have to pick up their lives without her. However, when “the fam” discover a disturbing plan forming involving one of the Doctor’s most feared and dangerous enemies, the Daleks, Captain Jack will be on hand to help. But will they be able to cope without the Doctor, whose fate was left hanging in the balance when she was stuck in an eternal prison? We’ll have to see on New Year’s Day!

Joined the previously mentioned cast will be Chris Noth (‘Sex and the City’), who returns as the disgraced businessman Jack Robertson, who we last saw in the episode ‘Arachnids in the UK’. Making their ‘Doctor Who’ debut in the special will be Dame Harriet Walter (‘Killing Eve’, ‘Succession’) and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (‘Misfits’, ‘Utopia’, ‘The Trial of Christine Keeler’).

“Where else would you get British acting royalty, a globally renowned US screen star, an (inter)national treasure of stage and screen and one of Britain’s hottest young actors — just in the guest cast!” commented exec producer Chris Chibnall. “Put those together with Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole (and Daleks! Did I mention Daleks!) – and you get a cast to be exterminated for. And things will explode. Promise.”

Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks‘ premieres New Year’s Day on BBC One in the UK, and on BBC America in the US.
