The final 10 episodes of historical epic ‘Vikings‘ returns this December to air Season 6B it has been announced. Whilst the show has always premiered on Amazon Prime Video in the UK, they have also announced Prime Video US will also be premiering the final episodes for our American cousins as well!
Season six began following a battle between brothers which has left Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) victorious and a hero to the people who have been under the tyrannical rule of Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) for so long. As the new leader of Kattegat, Bjorn struggled to fill his late father’s shoes as king, while facing several dilemmas and wrestling with the idea that power overshadows morals.
Meanwhile, Ivar, searching for a new path to separate him from his past, was seen travelling along The Silk Road eventually leading him to Russia. He met his match in Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky), a ruthless and unpredictable Russian ruler, who shocks even Ivar with his merciless actions. While Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) had her own agenda – to live a quieter and less public life on her own farm, but new dangers lurk close to home.
The finale saw Bjorn fighting for his homeland alongside King Harald (Peter Franzen) against Ivar, who was now fighting with the Rus forces in an attempt to gain control of Norway. The battle seemingly ended with Bjorn left for dead on the battlefield, and the future of their ancestral home, Kattegat, at stake.
The final chapter picks up to reveal that Bjorn has survived the vicious blow he was dealt in the Rus battle. But will he be bed-bound when the Saxons go head to head with the Danes?
Meanwhile, in Iceland, Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) is determined to fulfil his father Ragnar’s dream and sail further west than any Viking has travelled before. And there is unfinished business in England. The Vikings have established settlements there, and over-run most of the country – except for Wessex. The King of Wessex, Alfred the Great, is the only Saxon ruler to seriously challenge their complete domination. Ivar the Boneless must again face, in battle, the King he only knew as a boy for a final reckoning.
‘Vikings‘ Season 6B premieres Wednesday, 30th December 2020 on Amazon Prime Video in the UK, US, Germany, Austria and Ireland, with all 10 episodes releasing as a boxset! The series will then have a second run on Sky History in the UK and History US at a later date.
