‘The Blacklist’ Handed Early Season 9 Renewal By NBC

Get Red-y for more Reddington, as NBC hands an early renewal to The Blacklist for Season 9 of the crime drama.

‘The Blacklist’ stars James Spader as criminal mastermind Raymond “Red” Reddington and Megan Boone as Elizabeth Keen, the FBI agent who is part of the Reddington task force, a group designed to take down Red’s “Blacklist” – individuals so dangerous and devious that the US government is unaware of their very existence.

The series, which returns to the UK for its 8th Season this February, has been doing great numbers for its US home on NBC. The season, which is currently airing in America, is averaging 1.2 in 18-49 bracket and the Nov. 13 premiere has reached 7.5 million viewers in total audience measurement. In addition to that, the 2019-2020 season reached nearly 39 million total viewers across linear and digital platforms in the USA.

Season 8 returns as Reddington has his back against the wall, facing his most formidable enemy yet… Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone). Aligned with her mother, infamous Russian spy Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins), Liz must decide how far she is willing to go to find out why Reddington has entered her life and what his endgame really is. The fallout between Reddington and Keen will have devastating consequences for all that lie in their wake, including the Task Force they helped to create.

This season will also feature a landmark moment for the series, as Red reveals something we’ve all been wondering… the #1 name on Raymond Reddington’s notorious blacklist!

‘The Blacklist’ also stars Diego Klattenhoff as FBI Agent Donald Ressler, Amir Arison as FBI Special Agent Aram Mojtabai, Hisham Tawfiq as Red’s security detail & close friend Dembe Zuma, and Harry Lennix as FBI Assistant Director Harold Cooper, leader of the Reddington taskforce.

John Eisendrath, Jon Bokenkamp, John Davis, John Fox, James Spader, Lukas Reiter, J.R. Orci, and Laura A. Benson serve as executive producers. ‘The Blacklist’ is a production of Davis Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television and Universal Television.

The Blacklist‘ Season 8 premiere Tuesday, 2nd February 2021 at 9pm on Sky One in the UK. The series is currently airing Friday nights at 8pm ET/PT on NBC in the USA.
