‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Gets First Trailer, Premiering March On Disney+
Late last night in the middle of the Superbowl, Marvel released the first trailer for upcoming series ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier‘, which is set to premiere this March on Disney+.
The series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities… and their patience.
Along with Sam and Bucky, the trailer shows Emily VanCamp reprise her role as Sharon Carter, former SHIELD agent (and niece of Peggy Carter), who has been on the run since Civil War. Also returning is Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo (complete with comic book mask!), the Sokovian terrorist who was pretty much responsible for the events Civil War.
New cast includes Wyatt Russell as John Walker, who (in the comic books) takes over the role of Captain America, but with a more militaristic stance, and without the warm fuzziness of Steve Rogers. Adepero Oduye, Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa and Noah Mills have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
Kari Skogland (‘The Loudest Voice’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, ‘The Punisher’) directs the new series with Malcolm Spellman (‘Empire’) as head writer.
For the UK, we are getting a big new section on Disney+ from Tuesday, 23rd February 2021, as they launch STAR, a new “channel” coming to various international territories, which will at more “mature content” from across Disney-owned brands, such as FX, Hulu and ABC. You can read about the launch line up here.
The addition of STAR to Disney+ also brings a price rise. UK customers can currently subscribe to Disney+ for £5.99 per month or £59.99 annually, but from 23 February, Disney+ will cost £7.99, or £79.90 annually, so it is worth subscribing for a year now to get the lower rate. In addition, current prices for existing subscribers (prior to 23 February) will be honoured for six months, with the price change taking effect on the monthly or annual renewal date following 22 August 2021, meaning if you subscribed at the launch last year, your renewal will be at the £59.99 rate. Full details on how to subscribe available on Disneyplus.com.
‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier‘ premieres Friday, 19th March 2021 on Disney+.
