‘NCIS: New Orleans’ To End With Current 7th Season

The party is over for NCIS: New Orleans as CBS announces the drama will end with its current 7th Season.

‘NCIS: New Orleans’ takes place in the local field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel in The Big Easy, a city known for its music, entertainment, and decadence. Leading the team is Special Agent Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula), a.k.a. “King,” a native of New Orleans who is driven by his need to do what is right.

“Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way,” commented lead Scott Bakula. “I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”

Alongside Bakula, the series starred Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Chelsea Field and CCH Pounder. Jan Nash and Christopher Silber served as showrunners on the drama.

‘NCIS: New Orleans’ is set to end in May 2021 in the USA on its 155th episode. Launching in September 2014, the series was the 2nd spin-off from the ‘NCIS’ franchise, alongside ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’, which is currently in its 12th Season. Whilst it had been a useful show for CBS, the drama never quite managed to reach the same sort of viewing figures as the mother or sibling series, with numbers on the seventh season down 24% on season six.

“From the start, NCIS: New Orleans was able to distinguish itself with its New Orleans authenticity,” adds Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment. “From the colours and music to the vibrancy and stories you can only find in the Big Easy. Thanks to the amazing talents of the producers, writers, cast and crew, NOLA has played a key role on our schedule. We’re pleased to give it a big sendoff and that viewers will have the opportunity to say goodbye to their favourite characters as the final season wraps.”

Whilst the news of ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ is sad, showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber are currently developing a possible replacement with ‘NCIS: Hawaii’, alongside ‘SEAL Team’ writer/producer Matt Bosack. It is likely to feature an entirely new team. Unlike the previous spin-offs, which were aired as backdoor pilots, the potential new show would be piloted separately, or be handed a straight-to-series order.

NCIS: New Orleans‘ airs on FOX in the UK, with the 7th, and now final, season likely to premiere in Summer 2021. We’ll bring you an exact date when we have it.
