‘The Boys‘: College For “Superheroes” Spin-Off Adds Lizze Broadway & Jaz Sinclair

Amazon’s potential spin-off to The Boys has enrolled its first students, as Lizze Broadway and Jaz Sinclair have been cast in the college for “superheroes” drama.

The series, which has yet to be officially greenlit by Amazon, would be set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (or “supes”), run by Vought International. The potential drama is an irreverent, R-rated show that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games – with all the heart, satire and raunch of ‘The Boys’.

Lizze Broadway is set to play Emma, whilst Jaz Sinclair would play Marie, both “superhero” students at the college. Sinclair has recently been starring as Rosalind on Netflix’s ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, and previously appeared in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘Rizzoli & Isles’. You may know Broadway from her appearances HBO’s ‘Here and Now’, or her guest spots on ‘The Rookie’ and ‘Chicago P.D.’

The series comes from ‘The Boys’ writer/EP Craig Rosenberg who will write the pilot and serve as showrunner/EP. Creator of ‘The Boys’, Eric Kripke, will also exec produce alongside Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures. ‘The Boys’ EPs Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, who also executive produce on the spin of for Original Film. Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television will produce the series.

The spin-off was announced as “in development” back in September last year, but has yet to actually be given a formal green light by Amazon. However, the fact they are casting would seem to point towards an official pick up announcement at some point in the not too distant future.

The main show was renewed for a 3rd Season last year, but didn’t begin filming until February 2021 due to the pandemic, so is expected to land later this year. We do know there are some new faces in the cast, including ‘Supernatural’ star Jensen Ackles, who is re-teaming with his old boss Eric Kripke, to play Soldier Boy, who fought in World War II and became the first super celebrity and a mainstay of American culture for decades.

The Boys‘ airs on Amazon Prime Video in the UK and worldwide.
