Wallis Day Joins ‘Batwoman’ Season 2 In Key Role

Sorry for the slightly vague title, but I’m trying to avoid putting spoilers out there, and this one is rather a big one. Brit actress Wallis Day has joined the 2nd Season of Batwoman in a surprising new role… Warning, there are *spoilers* below…

‘Batwoman’ Season 2 will have a new face under the cowl after Ruby Rose decided not to continue the role after the first season. This sees Javicia Leslie pick up the cowl as Ryan Wilder, who is described as likeable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. Nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.

The opening episode of season two sees a plane crash which Kate was believed to be on board. However, no body was ever found, only the batsuit, leading to the ongoing question of “Whatever Happened to Kate Kane?” (which is also happens to be the title of that episode). As the eighth episode went out in the USA last night, we got an answer… Kate had been held hostage following the crash, although, due to the injuries Kate sustained, she will have a new face in the form of Wallis Day, and will be somewhat altered by the experience.

According to reports, this does not mean we’ll have two Batwomen running around. The cowl is staying with Ryan, and Kates return actually helps solidify Ryan in the role of Batwoman.

Wallis Day is no stranger to DC Comics having played Nyssa-Vex in two seasons of the cruelly cut short ‘Krypton’. Prior to that, she’s starring in ‘The Royals’, the mini-series ‘Jekyll & Hyde’, and ‘Hollyoaks’. She recently finished shooting ‘Infinite’, a feature film starring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Whilst we don’t yet have a premiere date in the UK for ‘Batwoman’ Season 2, E4 are now trailering it as “coming soon”, so it should arrive in the next couple of months. We’ll let you know when we have an exact date. The series is currently airing Sunday nights on The CW in the USA.
