‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Announces Cast As Production Begins For Disney+
Production has begun on the hugely anticipated ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi‘ series from Disney+, and as part of the launch announcement, the company has officially confirmed the cast will include Ewan McGregor in the title role, alongside Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’, the new Disney+ special event series starring Ewan McGregor as the iconic Jedi Master, will begin shooting in April. The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’ where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Hayden Christensen will take on the role of Vader, last seen just after he donned the iconic outfit at the end of ‘Revenge of the Sith’. Joining McGregor and Christensen will be Joel Edgerton (‘The Gift’, ‘The Great Gatsby’), who is presumably reprising his role as Luke’s Uncle Owen, and Bonnie Piesse as Aunt Beru. There are also a number of new faces in yet to be revealed roles including Moses Ingram (‘The Queen’s Gambit’), Kumail Nanjiani (‘Silicon Valley’, ‘The Big Sick’), Indira Varma (‘For Life’, ‘Carnival Row’), Rupert Friend (‘Homeland’, ‘Strange Angel’), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (‘Straight Outta Compton’), Sung Kang (‘Power’), Simone Kessell (‘The Crossing’, ‘Pine Gap’) and Benny Safdie (‘Good Time’, ‘Pieces of a Woman’).
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of ‘The Mandalorian’, Season 1. The series is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and writer Joby Harold. The casting director is Carmen Cuba.
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi‘ will be available exclusively on Disney+.
