by Dave Elliott

Disney+ has released the first trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch, the new upcoming animated series from the brilliant Dave Filoni.

‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in ‘The Clone Wars’) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch – a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army – each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.

As you can see in the trailer, “The Bad Batch”, also known as Clone Force 99, features the return of Hunter, Echo, Tech, Wrecker, and Crosshair providing a wide variety of mayhem and explosions! They will also be dealing with some familiar faces including Admiral Tarkin (voiced by Stephen Stanton), Fennec Shand (voiced by Ming-Na Wen, reprising her role from ‘The Mandalorian’) and a young-but-scarred Saw Gerrera (played once again by Andrew Kishino, who originally brought the soldier to life in ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’.)

The series is executive produced by Dave Filoni (‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’), Athena Portillo (‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’, ‘Star Wars Rebels’), Brad Rau (‘Star Wars Rebels’, ‘Star Wars Resistance’) and Jennifer Corbett (‘Star Wars Resistance’, ‘NCIS’) with Carrie Beck (‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Star Wars Rebels’) as co-executive producer and Josh Rimes as producer (‘Star Wars Resistance’). Rau is also serving as supervising director with Corbett as head writer.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch‘ premieres Tuesday, May 4th (aka Star Wars Day), with a special 70-minute episode, followed by new episodes every Friday starting on Friday, 7th May 2021.
