Arrow’s Joseph David-Jones Joins CW’s ‘The 4400’ Reboot

The CW’s upcoming straight-to-series reboot of The 4400 has landed a former ‘Arrow’ cast member as one of the aforementioned number it has been announced.

The series follows the story of 4,400 overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized people who vanished without a trace over the last hundred years and are all returned in an instant, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to analyze the potential threat and contain the story, the 4400 themselves must grapple with the fact that they’ve been returned altered in ways that none of them yet understand, and the increasing likelihood that they were all brought back now for a specific reason.

Joseph David-Jones, who we last saw portraying Connor Hawk in the flash-forward storyline in the final two seasons of ‘Arrow’, will play Rev Johnson, a man of true faith from a powerful, affluent church family who disappeared in the 1990s. He is accustomed to the clout that comes with his position, and will emerge as a natural leader among the 4400. In addition to ‘Arrow’, David-Jones appeared in ‘Nashville’ as Clayton Carter, and the movie ‘Allegiant’.

Also joining the cast is newcomer Khaliah Johnson, who takes the role of LaDonna, a high maintenance Miami party girl who disappeared on her 21st birthday. While she at first comes across as spoiled and vapid, she will end up tapping into her own potential in ways she never expected.

Based on the original tv show, this new version comes from Ariana Jackson and Anna Fricke, the duo behind another wildly successful reboot, the Jared Padalecki series ‘Walker’. Jackson, whose previous work includes ‘Riverdale’‘UnREAL’ and ‘Lethal Weapon’, is set to write the drama and exec produce alongside Fricke and Laura Terry.

Created by René Echevarria and Scott Peters, the original series ran for 4 seasons between 2004-2007. It had a huge ensemble cast including Joel Gretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie, Patrick Flueger, Conchita Campbell and was arguably the role which gave Mahershala Ali his big break.

The 4400‘ reboot will premiere on The CW in the USA, and is slated to debut during the 2021-22 season. It’s way too early for a UK broadcaster pick up, but we’ll let you know when we hear something.
