‘Warrior’: Martial Arts Drama Renewed For Season 3

Martial arts drama Warrior will be back to kick more ass, as news lands that the show will return for a 3rd Season, and will also be moving homes in the US, from Cinemax to HBO Max. It should still air on Sky One in the UK.

From ‘Banshee’ creator Jonathan Tropper and ‘Fast and the Furious’ Justin Lin, based on an original concept and treatment by the legendary Bruce Lee, ‘Warrior‘ is a gritty, action-packed crime drama set during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the late 19th century. The series follows Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances. After proving his worth as a fighter, Ah Sahm becomes a hatchet man for the Hop Wei, one of Chinatown’s most powerful tongs (Chinese organized crime family).

“Warrior introduced viewers to a distinct world from the past, executed with dynamic action and relevant storytelling, with a brilliant cast led by Andrew Koji,” commented Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer at HBO and HBO Max. “We can’t wait to see what Jonathan, Justin and Shannon will bring to the next chapter of this series on HBO Max.”

The 2nd Season, which aired back in October last year, followed rival Chinatown tongs, the Hop Wei and the Long Zii, as they fight for dominance amidst the growing anti-Chinese racism that threatens to destroy them all. After barely surviving season one’s disastrous showdown, Ah Sahm went back with the Hop Wei, determined to wreak vengeance on Long Zii’s new leader, Mai Ling (Dianne Doan)… who also happened to be his sister…

“Justin, Jonathan, and I were thrilled when Warrior was put on HBO platforms to be discovered by a whole new legion of fans,” adds Shannon Lee, executive producer at Bruce Lee Entertainment. “Now we are excited and grateful for the opportunity to do another season, and we applaud HBO Max for understanding the importance of telling this story and for continuing to support this level of representation in our industry. I just know that my father is grinning right now to see this show he dreamed of so long ago continuing to beat the odds. We have every intention of delivering the same high level of meaningful storytelling and Gung Fu action in Season 3.”

‘Warrior‘ is produced by Perfect Storm Entertainment, Tropper Ink Productions and Bruce Lee Entertainment; created and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper. Justin Lin and Andrew Schneider executive produce on behalf of Perfect Storm Entertainment. Shannon Lee executive produces for Bruce Lee Entertainment. Executive produced by Brad Kane and Richard Sharkey. Co-executive produced by Kenneth Lin, Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard.

Warrior‘ Season 3 will air on HBO Max (moving from Cinemax) in the USA, and should return to Sky One in the UK. They haven’t said exactly when the next season will land, but you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when there is a UK premiere date.
