‘Muppets Haunted Mansion’: Disney+ Set First-Ever Muppets Halloween Special

by Dave Elliott

The Muppets are about to get spooky, as Gonzo and Pepe the King Prawn (‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’) announce the Muppets first-ever Halloween special, ‘Muppets Haunted Mansion’, will debut this Autumn on Disney+.

The brand-new special will feature a star-studded Muppets cast, celebrity cameos, all-new music and spooky fun for families to enjoy together. ‘Muppets Haunted Mansion’ takes place on Halloween night, when Gonzo is challenged to spend one very daring night in the most grim grinning place on Earth… The Haunted Mansion.

The announcement was made today to help celebrate the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products’ “Halfway to Halloween” event. You can find out more about that here.

The Muppets previously returned to our screens in their first original series for Disney+, ‘Muppets Now!’, which was their first-ever unscripted series featuring Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the rest of your favourite Muppets, in a brand new, improvised series, filled with the startling silliness and heartfelt fun that first made them famous. Disney has struggled a little to work out how to handle the Muppets since their acquisition of The Muppets Studio in 2004, but the six-episode series saw a return to the form of silly anarchy we’ve come to love from our favourite felt-covered friends.

‘Muppets Haunted Mansion’ is set to premiere Halloween 2021 on Disney+.
