‘Sweet Tooth’: Netflix Releases Full Trailer For Series Based On DC/Vertigo Comic Book

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has released the full trailer for Sweet Tooth, an adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic book, from Team Downey and Warner Bros. Television, with premieres this June on the streaming service.

Ten years ago “The Great Crumble” wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them.

After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together they set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers— about Gus’ origins, Jepperd’s past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.

The series stars Christian Convery (‘Beautiful Boy’, ‘Tiger Rising’, ‘Playing With Fire’), Nonso Anozie (‘The Laundromat’, ‘Zoo’, ‘Game of Thrones’), Adeel Akhtar (‘Les Misérables [TV series]’, ‘Victoria & Abdul’, ‘The Big Sick’) and Will Forte (‘The Last Man on Earth’, ‘Saturday Night Live’), with James Brolin (‘Life in Pieces’, ‘Amityville Horror’, ‘Westworld’) as the voice of the narrator.

Based on characters created for DC by Jeff Lemire, ‘Sweet Tooth’ comes from Jim Mickle (‘Hap and Leonard’, ‘In the Shadow of the Moon’, ‘Cold In July’) and Beth Schwartz (‘Arrow’, ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’) who serve as writers, co-showrunners and exec producers. Team Downey’s Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell, alongside Linda Moran also exec produce. Team Downey in association with Warner Bros. Television are the studios.

Sweet Tooth‘ Season 1 premieres Friday, 4th June 2021 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
