Amazon Prime UK Acquires British Remake Of Hit French Series ‘Call My Agent!’

Amazon Prime has acquired the British remake of the smash-hit French series Call My Agent! the streaming service has announced.

The original French series (‘Dix Pour Cent’) is set in a Parisian talent agency where the staff find themselves scrambling to keep their clients happy and keep the company afloat following the sudden death of its founder. The UK adaptation, which moves things to London, comes from BAFTA award winner John Morton (‘Twenty Twelve’, ‘W1A’), and retains the essence of the French series, but will incorporate Morton’s unique British sensibility and introduce some new storylines.

The series, which is currently filming in London, stars Jack Davenport (The Morning Show, The Pirates of the Caribbean series, The Talented Mr. Ripley), Lydia Leonard (Last Christmas, Gentleman Jack), Maggie Steed (Fisherman’s Friends, Chewing Gum), Prasanna Puwanarajah (Doctor Foster, Patrick Melrose), Hiftu Quasem (Killing Eve, The Nest), Fola Evans-Akingbola (Black Mirror, Siren), Rebecca Humphries (The Crown, Trigonometry), Harry Trevaldwyn (The King, The Bubble), Tim McInnerny (Game of Thrones, Notting Hill), Natasha Little (Night Manager, Vanity Fair), Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve, Sex Education), Eleonore Arnaud (Nu) and Jim Broadbent (The Duke, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince).

“Call My Agent! has been a runaway hit; we’re delighted to have worked hand in hand with the creative teams behind the show to bring a uniquely British slant for Prime Video members in the UK and Ireland,” commented Martin Backlund, Head of Content, UK, Ireland and Nordics at Prime Video. “The incredible ensemble cast, coupled with the talented team behind the cameras, means it’s sure to be something special, and we’re looking forward to seeing how our customers respond.”

With this being a show about the world of celebrity agents, there are a number of opportunities for cameos from familiar famous faces to appear in the series. Today, Amazon has announced Kelly Macdonald (Trainspotting, No Country for Old Men), Helena Bonham Carter (The Harry Potter series, The Crown, The King’s Speech) and Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense, An Education) will be three of those faces, with more to follow!

“It’s great to be working with Amazon Prime Video who support creativity and gives us the freedom to put our own distinctively British stamp on the series,” adds John Morton. “It’s a privilege to be working with an extraordinary cast, along with some star-studded cameos, who together represent the best of Britain’s talent.”

The original French series became something of a worldwide hit when Netflix picked up the first 4 Seasons for the streaming service. There is currently a 5th Season and a movie in development, alongside a potential US remake as well. With the original series airing on Netflix, I rather suspect there were some happy smiles around the Amazon offices when they bagged the UK version…

The comedy is exec produced by David Davoli, Samantha Thomas, Steven Thibault, and Aaron L. Gilbert for BRON Studios, Christian Baute, Frank Calderon, and Laurence Lenica for Headline Pictures, and David Tanner from Turbine Studios. Sarah Curtis is a producer and Ben Rimmer is a co-producer, with BRON’s Emma Fleischer on as supervising producer. ‘Call My Agent!’ original producers, Aurélien Larger and Harold Valentin of Mother Productions, and Dominique Besnehard and Michel Feller of Mon Voisin Productions, are also executive producers. BRON Studios is producing and co-financing. Headline Pictures is co-producing.

“Amazon Prime Video UK have been great partners and have helped to elevate the project,” said David Davoli, President of BRON Studios Television. “We are grateful that Amazon came on board Call My Agent! at an early stage and gave us a foundation on which to build this very special project.”

Call My Agent!‘ (UK) is currently filming in central London, and will air the series in the UK and Ireland. We don’t yet know when it will air, but if you want to keep track of this series you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
